Digital Tips: What does your digital brand look like?

You never get a 2nd chance to make a 1st impression so this month we are going to talk about the first thing that people see online… your profile picture!

Below are a few tips to the perfect professional profile pic!

  • Firstly, make sure the photo is of you and that its current. If you’ve recently dyed your hair or grown some face furniture, make sure the photo reflects this. You want to make sure you are recognised at a meeting or event.

  • Make sure your photo is high resolution and not blurry. If your image isn’t crisp, please use another one.

  • Ensure that you are the only person in the picture. Please don’t crop yourself out of a group photo.

  • Get someone else to take the picture (preferably a professional). Selfies don’t belong here… sorry!

  • SMILE! Yes, your expression is very important. Feel free to practice in the mirror to perfect this!

  • Don’t use distracting backgrounds. Keep them clean, light and fresh. White backgrounds work very well.

  • Dress code - If you wear a suit to work or you are trying to attract a very professional crowd, wear a suit in your picture. If you work from home or wear more relaxed clothing day to day, solid colours look best on camera.

  • And finally, never leave your profile picture blank… this includes your Skål International membership profile!

Your smile is your logo, your personality is your business card, how you leave others feeling after having an experience with you becomes your trademark”.  ― Jay Danzie
